Hollow steel balls are widely used in precision machinery, shock absorption equipment, fluid devices and industrial decoration due to their lightweight and high-strength characteristics. Product quality varies greatly depending on forming technologies. At present, the mainstream industrial manufacturing methods include welding forming, water swelling forming, CNC pressing and precision hydraulic forming. Each process has independent principles, accuracy advantages and applicable scenarios. This article systematically explains the four core processes and introduces the multi-process manufacturing and quality control capabilities of Feige Steel Ball.
Welding forming is a traditional and mature process. Two symmetrical steel hemispheres are stamped and then integrally welded into a complete hollow ball. This technology is suitable for mass production of large-size and thick-wall hollow steel balls with low manufacturing cost and stable operability. However, welding seams easily cause joint marks and micro steps, resulting in stress concentration and insufficient tightness. It is mainly applied in general scenarios with low requirements for surface precision and fatigue resistance.
Water swelling forming is an advanced mould-free technology. Steel plates are prefabricated into closed polygonal shells first, and then filled with high-pressure water medium. Uniform internal liquid pressure drives plastic deformation and gradually shapes the shell into a standard sphere. Without rigid stamping traces or splicing dead angles, the finished ball features good integrity. This process is highly flexible for customized large-diameter and thin-wall hollow balls with special specifications.
CNC pressing forming is a high-precision cold working technology. Supported by servo CNC presses and high-precision integrated moulds, metal blanks are shaped through fixed-point, quantitative and constant-speed pressing. All parameters including pressure, stroke and forming temperature are precisely controlled. The finished products feature uniform wall thickness, standard radian and tiny dimensional tolerance, making it ideal for mass production of small and medium-sized high-precision hollow steel balls for precision instrument applications.
Precision hydraulic forming adopts internal high-pressure shaping principle. Synchronous internal fluid pressure and axial feeding force make metal blanks fit the mould cavity evenly. This process improves lattice compactness, ensuring crack-free, deformation-free and mechanically stable hollow balls, which is the core technology for high-end lightweight products. Feige Steel Ball masters all four mainstream forming processes and selects targeted solutions according to product specifications and working conditions. Supported by full-range testing systems, we achieve full-process quality control and deliver stable, high-quality hollow steel balls for global high-end industries.
